Sunday Social 30th November 2008 at Abacus Coffee, Doi Saket Road
Our host for this CCL Sunday Social is Khun Pongsakem Jitkasem, better known as Nicky, and a well known Thai rally driver.
Khun Nicky has some treats for us on the 30th November, as he’ll have some of his rallying memorabilia on display for us to see & as well, as long as K. Nicky doesn’t damage it too much whilst rallying this coming weekend in Kanchanaburi, he’ll have a full rally prepared 4X4 Rally Truck there for our inspection too!
See the attached flyer for full details, some advance glimpses of the lovely Abacus Coffee and a suggestion for somewhere to go onto afterwards.
There’s a map on the attached flyer as to how to get to Abacus Coffee, but to augment that, the directions are:
Head north east on Route 118, sign posted Doi Saket and Chiang Rai. This can be accessed from the Superhighway, Central Ring Road, or Outer Ring Road (route 121). Once you have left the 121 Outer Ring Road behind you, look out for the dark-orange coloured pedestrian bridge over the road at km stone 8. After that you have MP and Cosmo petrol stations on your left in that order. The next big sign in the sky on your left is for the adjacent Horizon Village & Resort and Abacus Coffee is in the ‘lay-by’ immediately after their entrance, almost on km stone 10.
Now here’s a little advance information about next month’s Classic Cars of Lanna December run, so you can get the date into your no doubt busy pre-Christmas schedules right now. Santa has once again asked the members & friends of Classic Cars of Lanna to help again this Christmas.
Member Paul Humphreys has already volunteered (thank you Paul) to organise a fun Christmas run on Sunday 14th December to Croston House Children’s Home in Lamphun, where with your support, we’ll be adding a little Christmas cheer (not the alcoholic type!) to the lives of the many children looked after there by Glenn Croston & his dedicated team. Paul’s due back into Chiang Mai from his travels early next week and will no doubt be making contact with everyone shortly thereafter.
A volunteer will be required who can fit into the CCL Santa Suit & Paul will doubtless be seeking appropriate goodies for the orphanage. Paul will release his programme soon and I am sure that we’ll all chip in to help make this a wonderful & memorable day for these children.
