Classic Cars of Lanna this year, chose Croston House in Lamphun as the beneficiary of our Christmas Santa run.

A small but enthusiastic group of loyal members assembled at Gymkhana Club and drove out to Lamphun for a splendid BBQ lunch at Croston House.

During lunch “Santa” (thanks to the kindness of member Erik Carlson) appeared in full festive regalia to distribute individual gifts to the children.

We met, slightly earlier than usual, at the Coffee Bus for Snacks and a chat. The first topic of conversation as we reviewed the fine array of vehicles that planned on making the trip was that they and we were in such good shape that there was no need to hurry, getting to Chiang Rai would take a lot less time than we had thought.
The group was joined by member Nico, Honorary Member & Mascot Roady and four very pleasant young people, as Nico’s family were visiting Thailand on holiday. …

April in Chiang Mai is typically hot & sunny and sometimes wet. Today’s event was just that.
Chieng Mai Gymkana Club was the venue for the meeting prior to the drive and the golfers were in full swing amidst the spray from sprinklers on the course. The clubhouse offered a pleasant setting and a convivial welcome for new members to meet the Classic Cars of Lanna group.
It was good to see Kh Kittiboon with his blue Mini and to accompany him there was a red Mini Moke and another red Mini.
Derrell’s …

Fifteen cars met up from 10am at J & N Auto (053 801 416 or 081 885 2893), where member Jimmy had gone to a lot of trouble to welcome Classic Cars of Lanna members & guests and host a lovely breakfast & refreshments for everyone. Jimmy’s efforts were appreciated by all & met with a warm round of applause.
As this special Classic Cars of Lanna event was visiting the historic & ancient ruins of Wieng Kum Kam in Chiang Mai, the organiser of this Sunday Run, had organised a …

ONE RUN, TWO ROUTES, TWO CRUISES
An equal record turn out of 21 classics graced the Coffee Bus area of Mee Chok Plaza (Rimping-on-the-ring-road) on February 24th for a unique event in our group’s history. And if we can be unique in more ways than one, this was it!
On offer were 2 routes, the short and the long way to the beautiful Mae Kuang Reservoir north west of Doi Saket. The ’shorties’ could choose a distance of some 25kms via Doi Saket, then into the huge Royal Irrigation Department area …

More than 20 of us met up on Sunday 27 January 2008 at Black Canyon Coffee, as the rather inappropriately named ‘Kad Farang’ on the Hang Dong Road, for our January Sunday Run, which this month marked the official opening & dedication of the Classic Cars of Lanna sponsored ‘Blacky Gate’ at the Care for Dogs Shelter / Rescue Centre.
For those that perhaps are not ‘in the know’, Blacky was fellow member Nico Thiel’s faithful ‘canine companion’ black Labrador – hence the name. Since the inception of Classic Cars of …

Today, Classic Cars of Lanna Sunday Run was a little different.

Starting off from the car park of Suan Pak Salad House Restaurant, adjacent to Airport Plaza, along with Santa who joined this very special outing of 13 Classic Cars on their procession around the moat of Chiang Mai.

After touring the streets of the city & surprising many folks young & old with a cheery “Ho Ho Hooooo!” the cortege regrouped at Rimping Maejo and then preceded to Doi Saket, where they visited the ‘House of Blessing, Tribal Children’s Home’, bearing …

What a great day this was. We met at the Chiengmai Gymkhana Club at 10am for coffee, breakfast & a good networking session amongst fellow classic car enthusiasts and then headed off in convoy.
We had an amazingly good turnout for the day – 19 vehicles in total, with everyone keen to see the exhibits at the Wing 41 Air Museum. Our route took us from the Gymkhana Club & into the city centre, where we turned left at the historic Tapae Gate, to then travel around the old city moat, …

The week end was a total success and despite a couple of pit stops for minor irritations (dirty fuel & loss of water) the journeys between Chiang Mai to Lampang then on to Phayao & return to Chiang Mai, were uneventful.
The route taken from Chiang Mai to Lampang was via the direct Rte 11, a fast and fairly straight road, except for the section passing through Khun Tan National park & mountains, which is a little like a race track in parts.
After stopping off at Lampang for lunch, a couple …
